Carefully screened and trained caregivers are prepared to assist with activities of daily living. For those transitioning home after a hospitalization or stay in a rehabilitation center after a surgery or illness, we can provide the support you need at home.
Whether you or a loved one needs 20 hours per week or around-the-clock care, we have caring, friendly, competent caregivers to meet your needs. Caregivers at our home care agency are selected for each assignment with consideration to skills and compatibility. After the assignment, we welcome a client’s feedback as to their satisfaction with the caregiver.
We recognize that each client has different needs, so an appropriate plan of care is developed by a Registered Nurse. For example, an older adult with low or high blood pressure issues will have vital signs taken daily. The documentation provided by the aide will allow our nurse to monitor any changes in the older adult’s health. The documentation is done in real time using a software program designed for home care agencies. Because this information can be viewed by the charge nurse during a shift, timely intervention can be provided.
Serving older adults since 2013, Moon River Senior Care has a reputation for hiring the best caregivers in Northern Virginia. We are highly selective about the companions, aides, and nurses we employ. They must be compassionate, have excellent references, be reliable and responsible. They must demonstrate they have the knowledge and work ethic to join our team. We employ aides who can assist with activities of daily living. They include pre-medical and nursing students and other healthcare professions. We also have a one-year pre-health internship program that attracts recent college graduates in the gap year before medical school or Physician Assistant school.
The caregivers at Moon River Senior Care are educated on medical conditions affecting their clients. Additionally, they are trained on communication techniques to work with older adults who have cognitive, visual, or hearing impairments. They provide mobility assistance to those needing a steady arm or rely on walking aids, such as a cane, walker, power chair or standard wheelchair. They are trained on how to safely transfer an older adult.
We believe that older adults should be able to remain in their familiar home environment and focus on quality of life. Caregivers can initiate engaging activities including music, crafts, reading, puzzles and going to activities. We recognize and appreciate that each older adult has a unique life history. We can assign a caregiver who can record an older adult’s life history, resulting in a treasured family keepsake. Our commitment is to help older adults maintain the highest level of independence and continue to enjoy activities that bring joy to their days.
Home Care Pulse, a third-party evaluator of home care agencies, ranks Moon River Senior Care in the top 15 percent of all participating home care agencies in the country. We have been awarded “Trusted Caregiver,” “Leader in Excellence” and “Employer of Choice.” It would be our privilege to assist you or your loved one.
